S.A.F.S. MK.III Raptor [Completed}

the last part of the WIP. the vignette.

find a wood block and put the cement on it.
I did not mix it with white glue and it cracked later. :(

print the footprint on it when the mixture is semi dry and drill some holes for grass planting later.

plant the "grass" (the fur from brush) into the holes.

sprayed brown color on the base.
then applied a layer of Tamiya Weathering Effect (dark soil) on it.

sprinkled some green tea leaves from the tea bag.
spray the grass with green color.

So it is finally done! the Raptor was super glued on it because the joint can't hold it well.

The clearer pictures of it I will post up later :)

now continue with the coloring part.

the base color is acrylic red brown mix with little black.

then spray a thick layer of hairspray on it and sprinkled some salts.
looks like a yummy drumstick XD

after spray the color. try to free hand to draw camo, but failed..
noticed the white bubbles.. maybe the salt reacted with the acrylic paints..

wash away the salt with waster

after washed with enamel paints. the color started to change....

dabbed some orange color on the edge to make it looks real rust.

dabbed with lead powder ( get from pencil tip)

chipped some paints away to make it looks worn out

now the kit itself is done. the next is the stage for it.

Hmmm... been a long time since last update.
this kit was done about half year ago.
now let's continue with the wip 2.

i bent the back cover to make it looks like damaged and drill a hole to make the missing nut.

on the back side of the shoes, drilled 2 holes to insert the cable for the foot. use wire to make the cable.

change all the cable parts with real springs.

to make the pvc joints can be connected later on, some modifications are done on it.

but soon i regretted as it is not that strong to hold the kit itself.
should make it out of epoxy putty.

the tamiya basic putty was mixed with some mr color thinner and applied on the kit to make it has rough surface.
but in the end the result was not that remarkable. may be i should try apply thicker layer of putty next time.

try to make the wielding lines by epoxy putty...
it was not that easy as i thought... it looked quite thick and fake

that's all for this time. next is the airbrush session!

S.A.F.S. MK.III Raptor WIP 1

An update after silent for quite some times... XD
I decided to hold my Barzam project for a while, and concentrated on this Ma.K.
I aimed to finish it before Sept.
Before that, I showed off the resin 1/100 Core Works Gundam Mk.V which i got from a charity donation. XD Now i finally understand why it is so hard to work on resin kits..
Though it was partly done by the owner before, still took me an hour to let it stand this way!!

Ok. After some show off, now let's continue to the points.
After removing the seam lines of those easy parts, i detailed up the camera and laser beam "mouth" with 1.5mm copper rod.

I managed to get a Wave antenna option parts from ICW,

But I am just lazy to drill a hole for it :P
I used a technique i had learned from my trip to KL last few days:
heat the sprue tree (don't know i spelled it correctly or not) and pull it carefully, to create a thin, long line.

After trying for few times to get used to it, I cut a suitable length and glued it on the Raptor's back by cement. (I am skipping the antenna base details =_=)

So now my Raptor's upper body looks like:

1/100 RMS-154 Barzam [Refined]

Put down my Ma.K for a while and work on this scratch build. Planned to get into the year end compy if i managed to finish it XD


The head is totally made from pla-plate and putty. Due to my inexperience, spent weeks to shaping the head (and some slacking as well... :P) it is really hard but learned much from this progress.


Side view. The jaw part might be redo to make it smaller and more ferocity looks.

Wave 1/20 S.A.F.S. MK.III Raptor

Finally an update after a long time.
Due to someone's fault perhaps? i fell into a new hole again...
the Ma.K...
This is 1st time i built a Ma.K kit from waves, the Raptor.

The quality of plastics are totally different from Bandai kits. Now i just know how good quality and cheap Bandai kits are... XD
OK. Picture time!

instruction manual cover. comes with a sheet of decals too.

Four side view. Noticed all the "cable"? gonna change it to real springs!

After take down the cover on the back, the details shown up. but the seam line.. OMFG!

The top cover can be opened and the pilot is shown. The details inside is real crisp and the pilot's face is very clear too! too bad i am going to skip painting it... :P

Due to the limited movement, only little post can be posted.

finally, this is the walking post I gonna use for the diorama build. My 1st ever diorama! Hope I can really make it.

That's all. tomorrow gonna fly to Cambodia for a short vacation~
